Natural Treasures,

photos by Annessa Terry

The Nicola Valley Community Arts Council is excited to introduce Annessa Terry to the Nicola Valley.   Annessa lives in Lillooet and is a  member of the  Bridge River Indian Band, is a self-taught photographer  who has never shown her work publicly.

Working in digital photography, Annessa strives to share the beauty she sees when she looks through the lens of her camera.  Her direction has been inspired by noted photographer, Chris Harris’ show about the Grasslands in BC.  Annessa explores the textures and magnificence of the world around her.

She comes to the Nicola Valley for a lot of her inspiration because, as she says, “ I’ve always loved the wildlife and natural beauty of the Nicola Valley; this is what helps to keep me close.  I think the Nicola River is simply gorgeous.”

When asked if there has been one thing, that has inspired her to take up the camera, Annessa describes her muse, “I hate to say it, but “Mother Earth.”  It’s plain and simple, that is what I photograph, anything and everything that the Earth provides.”

This exciting show opens November 5th through the 27th.  A reception will be held on November 13th at 6pm and the public is invited to come out and meet this exciting young woman and see the show.

The Courthouse Gallery is located in the Olde Courthouse Arts Centre on Nicola Avenue.  Gallery hours are:  Thursday from 4-8pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am -4pm and admission is free  For more information, contact Kathi at:  250-378-6515 or at artsy@ocis.net.   Come see the show and support your local arts.
