Indigenous Animals of the Nicola Valley

7 08 2010

The August Show at the Courthouse Art Gallery opens August 6 and runs through August 28 and promises to be the most exciting show of the year.  The results of the open call for art were very successful.  Several artists have turned out to show their work in several different mediums, and comprise a wide range of animals and birds.

Come see the moose family brought to you by Heather Burnham.  There are geese, captured in Nicola clay by Jocelyn Freels.  You’ll be awed by Almerina Rizzardo’s glass depictions of a brown fear, bald eagle, and moose.

Showing for the first time is Isabell Bara.  Her paintings showing a bald eagle, moose and cougar in their natural settings will awaken your inner Nicola Valley spirit.  And Kevin Griffith’s bumblebee will carry you along on its hunt for pollen.

Veteran local artist Bev Veale has been busy with her colored pencils again.  Come and see what she’s produced for your viewing pleasure.

Gallery hours are Thursdays from 4-8pm . . . and Friday and Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

Admission is always free and there’s a new show every month.

The September show features Alberta painter, Patricia Peters.  This artist, who revisits the Group of Seven style, will be offering a workshop for area painters.  For more information on this workshop, call Kathi at the gallery or email her at:  250-378-6515   or artsy@ocis.net.
