The Nicola Valley Community Arts Council and the Courthouse Gallery present the work of artists:  Bev Veale, Miriam Loken, and Shirley Sauviat.  The show will run from November 6 through November 28.

Bev Veale is a longtime resident of Merritt and the Nicola Valley.  Though known as an excellent wood carver, she is an outstanding talent in the fields of painting and drawing.  She utilizes watercolour and oils to create beautiful flowers and landscapes, as well as portraits of people and their pets.  She is also one of the featured artists in the  book, “Visual Artists of the Nicola Valley.”  Bev is the former chair of the Arts Council and the Valley Visual Artists.  She is an advisor to the Art-In-The-Park project.

Miriam Loken is fairly new to Merritt and to painting.  She has taken to the medium like a duck to water with her acclaimed watercolour portraits of dogs and other fur people who share our lives.  She is also an imaginative sculptor who is gaining a reputation for the Leafy water features she builds utilizing rhubarb leaves, driftwood, and concrete.  Miriam is a member of the Valley Visual Artists.

Shirley Sauviat has lived in the Nicola Valley for over 20 years.  A lifelong artist, working in pastels, several paint mediums, and wood carving, she has made a niche for herself as a talented multi-media artist.  Shirley is a member of the Valley Visual Artists and is an advisor and assistant to the Art-in-the-Park project.

There will be a reception on November 6 from 5-9pm.  The public is invited to come and view the show and share refreshments with the artists.

Gallery hours are from 4pm to 8pm Thursdays, and 10am to 4pm Friday and Saturday.  Come view the show and support your community arts and artists.
